London International Gospel Choir
London International Gospel Choir (previously London Youth Gospel Choir) is an award winning group that enables people who enjoy singing to meet others in a social setting whilst developing their music and vocal skills. As the choir settled into being an adult choir, it became clear that we needed a better title and as London is a fantastic mixing pot of people and we celebrate this diversity in a welcoming fun environment, we became ‘International’ (LIGC). The choir is open to all, requires no auditions and sings uplifting material including Gospel, pop/funk/soul and African traditional.
As a 6 year-old choir we have created a reputation for energetic performances which has led to varioushigh-profile appearances including at the House of Commons for the prime minister, at Prince’s Trust award ceremonies for HRH Prince Charles, live on SkyTV with Alexandra Burke, the X Factor 2014 final, the National Gallery, opening the inaugural JazzFM Awards Ceremony, supporting Tenors Unlimited and rock bands like Deaf Havana; on stages such as the 02 Shepherds Bush Empire, the Royal Festival, Queen Elizabeth and Fairfield Halls, on BBC world and radio3 and for events like the New Voices Festival. We perform regularly for fundraising activities. The choir has won both Gold and commendation medals at the Festival of London 2013 and currently holds the GospelTouch Music Awards ‘Best Choir of the Year’ (2014).”
